"Air America", a favourable review!

Blog Index:

1.__Title of Book: Air America (This link goes to a great review!)

2. _____Author: Introduction by Al Franken and writers: David Bender, et al

3. _____Theme: "Air America" is (was?) a liberal version of talk radio. These essays talk about politics from a progressive, liberal, view and point out what is going on and the probably results.

4. My comments: This is an excellent book and well worth reading! Basically, this book talks economics and politics and talks about how:

  1. Concentrating the wealth in the hands of a few will lead to a feudal socieity,
  2. we can't trust corporations to care about people, the environment, the future (like we didn't already know that!),
  3. about how the rich and powerful simply want to turn us into a 3rd world nation of surfs
    • who are dying from lack of medical care (I don't know this but I believe it)
    • who are totally expendable (look at companies "permanently laying off" their best paid enployees and those close to retirement),
    • punishing those who rock the boat!

I'd have listened to "Air America" except they weren't carried by any radio stations in Kansas and Oklahoma. The nearest stations to where I live are in Bouder and Denver and both are far enough away to make them out of listening range. (Even it they are up the sides "of the rockpile".)

There is a talk radio station in "my" town but it features only conservative talking heads; anything progressive just does not "fit the demographic"...
